Living up to the words of our founder, J. Krishnamurti, who said that, "a school, through its students, should bring a blessing to the world," Oak Grove students continue to grow into engaged, energetic, and passionate young people who care about their education, their lives, the planet, and about making a difference in the world. While it’s easy to talk about their talents and achievements, if you really want to get a feeling for what an Oak Grove education is all about, listen to our students speak about the meaningful moments that are important to them in their daily life at school. Often these are the simple connections, the small acts of kindness, or the preciousness of fully enjoying an activity that enriches student life and for which we are all grateful. Read on for a glimpse into life at Oak Grove School…

Before I came to Oak Grove, I was not a person interested in sports at all. In fact I had never really played on any teams. However, I have found that I really enjoy soccer even though it is my first time playing and I'm not very good at it. The High School Showcase is another school program I really appreciate. It was a fantastic chance to experience performing my music class elective pieces in front of a huge audience - most who were strangers to me. I really had fun practicing with my friends and classmates. Sports and the High School Showcase are the things I have appreciated the most so far in my first year as a boarding student at Oak Grove.

What did I like most about Oak Grove? Just about everything. Being at school was like being with family. The teachers really cared about my success in and out of the classroom. And I'm certain that the deep friendships I made with my teachers and friends will last a lifetime. I remember singing solo for the first time in front of a large audience for a school performance - something I thought I would never do. I look back at all the amazing opportunities I had at Oak Grove playing sports, participating in student council and yearbook, traveling to Mexico and India, and teaching tennis to little kids for community service and feel so appreciative for the whole education I recieved. Now I play tennis for Occidental College and participate in some fun and meaningful clubs. Thank you Oak Grove.
|Juliene, 3rd Grade
My favorite day was when I was "Kid of the Week" in second grade and I got to bring my favorite things to school - like pictures of my family and my tennis trophy and my dog. I also brought my grandmiother to school. She writes kids books and she read her book to my class and then we answered questions from the kids in my class. I really like playing with my friends and I love my school.
