A message from the head of school, Jodi Grass
This month I traveled to New York City, meeting with alumni and longtime Oak Grove donors. Seeing how our alumni carry Oak Grove into the world, I am reminded of the deep roots our school has nurtured over fifty years. Each interaction reflects a quiet confidence, openness, and authentic presence. It is a joy to serve this small school and witness its meaningful impact.

As I was traveling from one part of the city to another, I found myself on a crowded subway. I was struck by the intimacy of being pressed so close to so many strangers and yet so disconnected. Most people were looking down at their phones. A young woman sat with her purse clutched tightly to her chest, her eyes closed – I couldn’t tell if she was asleep, meditating, or practicing a stress-reduction tool. Her face was taut with concentration.

Gratitude for Our Community

We are deeply touched to be recognized as “Best Private School in Ojai” for the tenth year in a row in the 2025 edition of Ojai Valley News’ Annual Ojai Readers’ Poll. Given our educational philosophy, which values learning without comparison or competition, the recognition feels both an honor and a gentle irony.

World Expo 2025

High School Trip to Japan

This summer, a group of Oak Grove High School students embarked on a journey to Japan to attend the 2025 World Expo in Osaka. The trip was made possible through the generosity of a donor who had been deeply moved by attending a World’s Fair in his own youth. By supporting this experience, he hoped to offer our students the same life-changing opportunity: to witness the breadth of the world and the transformative power of innovation.

An Annual Favorite

Pumpkin Decorating

Each year, Parent Council hosts a pumpkin decorating event for families in the Early Childhood Program. They connect over warm drinks, tasty snacks, and of course, pumpkins!

Vibrant Autumn Hues

As autumn paints our school garden with vibrant hues, we’re thrilled to share the heartfelt, organic magic unfolding in our outdoor gardens. The children’s creativity and connection to nature are blooming!

The Clift Family

Why We Give

We are parents of three children who have attended Oak Grove School since 2016 (Arya, Brooks, and Eleanor). They have each thrived in their own way as a result of Oak Grove’s unique educational curriculum and emphasis on reflective learning. It is nice to think that they will share this common bond throughout their lives.

K Quote

"Why are you attached? And what would happen if you were not attached? If you were not attached to your particular name, property, position – you know, the whole mass of things that makes up you: your furniture, your car, your characteristics, your idiosyncrasies, your virtues, your beliefs, your ideas – what would happen?"
