About Our Day of Reading
Day of Reading is an annual, student-led fundraiser that celebrates a love of books while inspiring friends and families to give. It’s a joyful tradition that brings our community together around reading, creativity, and generosity.
Day of Reading 2026 kicks off on Monday, February 2, with a spirited parade and rally, and culminates on Friday, February 13, with a much-loved celebration day at school. On this special day, Oak Grove students arrive in pajamas, bring a favorite stuffed animal, and share one or two treasured books. Together, they spend the day immersed in the magic of words, stories, and pictures.
Impactful Fundraising Beyond the Classroom
This year, students will raise funds for Teaching Tools, a fund that directly supports both students and teachers by fulfilling special, one-time classroom requests. Teaching Tools has helped expand classroom libraries, purchase new cameras for photography classes, and sponsor special field trips—just a few examples of the meaningful projects our students have enjoyed.
In the spirit of community and care beyond our campus, students also voted to donate 20% of all funds raised to The Ojai Raptor Center (ORC). ORC is a local nonprofit dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and education of birds of prey, while inspiring children and families in the Ojai Valley to connect with wildlife and the natural world.
