How many years have you worked at Oak Grove?

I started as a parent in 1999, then as a teacher in the Early Childhood Programs and elementary school for 15 years, and transitioned to Admissions Director in 2016.

Why do you work at Oak Grove?

I work at Oak Grove because I believe in the mission and intent of the school. As an educator, I wanted to teach through deep connection to my students. Oak Grove’s small class sizes and the expectation that teachers truly know students made my work as an educator so meaningful, and I hope impactful. In my most recent role as Director of Admissions, I get to share my experiences as a parent of three Oak Grove “lifers,” as a teacher in both early childhood and upper elementary, and as a member of this unique learning community. It is so exciting to meet people from all over the world who are seeking a different approach to education.

A quote that inspires your approach to your job.

“The mission of Oak Grove School is to assist students in developing those qualities of mind, heart, and body that will enable them to function with excellence, care, and responsibility in the modern world. In addition, it is the intention of the school to offer a place where the whole community can inquire together into the perennial questions of humankind and explore an approach to life that is whole, mindful, and intelligent.”

Where is your special spot on campus?

Walking across the path from the Pavilion stage to the Early Childhood classrooms and stopping mid-way to look out to the mountains, to listen to the laughter of toddlers, to breathe.

Coffee or Tea?

Coffee.

What makes an Oak Grove education unique?

Students at Oak Grove School are asked to look within, to truly know themselves, and to then move into relationship with others and with their environment.

Name a place you’ve always wanted to visit, but haven’t yet.

I haven’t yet chaperoned the senior trip to India!
