From the Head of School
While I am grateful for so many things, including our beloved small school, I have deep concern regarding the current alarming political events within the thick of the intensifying health crisis.
As of Monday, our teachers are back to work doing what they do best – educating students and providing a safe and engaging learning environment both on campus and remotely, for those families choosing Parent Assisted Learning From Home (PALFH).
As educators, we have an important role in contextualizing disturbing world events like the pandemic and the recent events at our country’s capital. After a year of challenge after challenge, this requires reaching into our deepest reserves of energy and resilience. But we must do what we can to provide a sense of understanding and stability amid chaos.
Our teachers are skilled at both teaching the fundamentals of democracy and exemplifying it in words and actions. They also give voice to diverse perspectives when evaluating and processing confusing world events. They are well prepared to process these events in age-appropriate and developmentally-supportive ways throughout the coming days.
Thank you for your continued support of this small and remarkable school. I have included some tidbits below about some of what we have been up to recently.

The 2020 Peace Day Universal Declaration, as set forth by the United Nations, reads: “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.” Rather than holding an all-school event on our campus, as we have done in previous years, over the last week our teachers have been celebrating this year’s Peace Day within the classroom curriculum.
