A Visit through Fresh Eyes: Learning in Action at Oak Grove
This Spring, we had the pleasure of welcoming two longtime friends of Oak Grove to campus for several days. Their visit offered a meaningful opportunity to experience the school through fresh eyes and to reflect on the learning unfolding each day across our classrooms.
John Marchi has supported the school for decades and has been a quiet and steady advocate of Oak Grove’s mission. He, along with his partner, Toni Arena, joined us for a visit that offered an opportunity not only to reconnect but also to experience the school in action.

Service Weekend Campout
The Pines
During a recent spring weekend, a group of our high school and 8th grade students backpacked up Horn Canyon to The Pines campground. The Pines is a campsite dear to high school history teacher Andy Gilman, his family, and so many across the Ojai Valley. Over the last decade or more, the drought and then the Thomas Fire changed it dramatically. For the past few years, with permission from the Los Padres Forest Service, and through the Pines Restortion Project, Andy and friends have been getting it back into shape.

Oak Grove's 50th
Featured Magazine Article

“More than 50 years ago, in the spring of 1975, Fred Hall, then editor of the Ojai Valley News, asked philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti a simple but pointed question: In a valley already full of public and private schools, why start another one?”

Tiny Town
A Place for All
Earlier this semester, first graders broke ground on our Tiny Town Project. Beginning with a look at 2D and 3D shapes, students set out to construct buildings that would be stable. But while we were imagining this town, we also decided our town needed to take care of ALL people and ALL of nature. We asked ourselves, “Can we design a town that takes care of everyone?”

"Awareness is not something extraordinary, beyond; it begins very simply, by being aware of your speech and reactions, just seeing, watching all that without judgment or condemnation."
