How many years have you worked at Oak Grove?

2020 was my first year at Oak Grove.

Why do you work at Oak Grove?

Oak Grove is a beautiful campus surrounded by caring adults who nurture the development of the whole child. I want to spend my days, and have my children spend their days, in a place filled with kindness, connection with nature, and possibility.

A quote that inspires your approach to your job.

“As life flows with the thoughts of the children, we need to be open, we need to change our ideas; we need to be comfortable with the restless nature of life.” -Loris Malaguzzi

Where is your special spot on campus?

The view of the mountains from the labyrinth.

Coffee or Tea?

Coffee.

What makes an Oak Grove education unique?

Oak Grove is a place where curiosity is encouraged, questions and uncertainty are valued, and the process of discovery and learning is more important than the final product.

How do we prepare students for their life ahead?

By providing a safe space to be bold, ask questions, take risks, and make mistakes without fear.

What outdoor experience has been most impactful for you?

Back-packing in the cloud forest in Guatemala with twenty other people, each representing a different country across the globe.

The best live music performance/concert you ever attended is …

Stevie Nicks at the Bowl.

Name something that nobody knows about you.

I love musical theater.

Person or people (dead or alive, famous or not) that you’d most like to share a meal with.

My family.

Name a place you’ve always wanted to visit, but haven’t yet.

Alaska: mountains, hiking, rivers of melted snow, forests, wildlife, adventure!
