Sixth Grade going into Seventh Grade

Welcome to seventh grade! The intention of summer practice is to integrate school learning into home life. Below you’ll find suggestions that include playful activities that also reinforce academic skills, in a relaxed family environment. This year, given the COVID situation, we have added more online opportunities for learning over the summer. We’ve also included online resources and quick links to specialist google slide lessons for art, music, and Spanish, in case your student would like to access these over the summer.

Read, read, read!
Required Reading
Please read a book by an author from a different country than the USA, as our historical focus will be World History. Here is a link with some suggestions, but please use your own discretion when reviewing books! Please be ready to do a book talk on your novel when we return to school in the fall.

Go into Khan Academy for math review:
Cooking & Baking
Cooking/baking for, and with, your family to develop cooking skills that will deliciously serve you throughout your life.
Research Climate Change
Continue to research Climate Change and get inspired about what you can do to make a change!

Audio books
We all love being read to, but in the absence of an actual human, enjoying the many offerings of audio books is a relaxing way to expand your library!
Create your space
Create a space in your house to work on home-school connections (your study spot! – this can be fun!).
Be in Nature
Be in nature as much as possible as a means to develop your sensitivity and awareness of the world around you.

Schedule Downtime
