The Music Production Bootcamp offers a ground-up overview of the roles of technology used in modern music production. Students will engage in a two-week intensive program designed for high school student who wish to explore and deepen their understanding of music and audio technology. Designed for student musicians and producers alike, the course explores studio production techniques for recorded music, electronic music production, music and audio hardware development, and much more. Students will interact with and learn from professional musician-instructors, as well as a roster of guest artists and workshop leaders with backgrounds in studio recording, live electronic music performance, computer music and programming, mixing and mastering, and collaborative music-making.
About the Instructors:
Scott Hirsch is a sound designer, an editor and mixer for film and video, a musician, and a Grammy nominated audio engineer. Scott attained his masters degree in music technology from New York University, where he concentrated his studies on 3D and spatial audio for film, focusing his research on the field of Ambisonics. Scott is the co-director of the high-school age focused Summer Institute of Music Production at New York University. He operates the post-production and music production studio collective in Ojai called Echo Magic .
Ethan Glazer is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and music teacher. He began performing professionally at the age of 6. Glazer has been a member of the touring bands Radio Skies and Song Preservation Society, and has contributed as a performer on numerous songs and albums of other artists. He has also worked as an actor in TV and film. For over 10 years, Glazer has also taught music both in classroom settings and through private lessons.
Syd Sidney is a seasoned music producer and performer with a BA in New Media from Emerson College. Throughout the early 2000s, he made his mark as a solo singer/songwriter, selling thousands of CDs and sharing stages with icons like John Mayer, Taylor Swift, and Hanson. He went on to continue touring globally as both a drummer and a producer, notably for Mia Dyson, with whom he produced the career-defining album “The Moment,” which debuted at #1 in Australia. Currently, he is a partner at Echo Magic in Ojai, CA.
