Oak Grove has grown in much the same way. With each passing year, another ring is added, and our circle widens, shaped by the care and commitment of this community.
Whether on stumps, in chairs, or on the earth, we often sit in a circle. We circle to sing songs of justice and peace, to share perspectives and listen deeply, and to sit mindfully in quiet attention. There is no center of authority, only the movement of our shared experience.

If you visit campus on a school day now, it might feel much like it has throughout our school’s history. Students make their way across campus on a line of rocks, birdsong carries through the trees, and a breeze moves softly through the grasses. Teachers kneel beside students, asking questions that invite learning to unfold. A felt sense of safety endures here, cradled by the land and the lives that share it with us.
And yet, to preserve this learning environment requires ongoing care, attention, and investment. From the very beginning, Oak Grove was founded in a field of generosity. What we experience today rests on what has been given before.
As Oak Grove’s 50th school year draws to a close, our attention shifts from reflecting on the past to turning toward what lies ahead. What will it take to sustain this vital mission, to care for this land and these simple buildings, and to ensure that our school continues to thrive for generations to come?
The Extraordinary Life Circle of Friends is one expression of that care. For more than twenty years, the giving level for this circle has remained unchanged at a minimum of $1,000 per year for five years. Over that time, both our school and the world around it have evolved. Earlier this year, we shared that this level has been thoughtfully updated to $2,500 per year, committed for five years, reflecting what it takes to sustain Oak Grove today.
We do not rank our donors or name buildings after individuals. We ask that those who support Oak Grove do so because they feel a connection to the work and its importance. At the same time, we feel it is meaningful to acknowledge those who have made a significant and sustained commitment to the school through the Extraordinary Life Circle of Friends.

As this school year comes to a close, we invite you to consider your own connection to Oak Grove and what it means to help sustain it. By making a gift of $2,500 or more by June 30, you will be welcomed into this growing circle of support and recognized in this year’s Annual Report.
As always, we are deeply grateful for your consideration of Oak Grove in your family’s giving plans.
Sincerely,
Rachael Barkley
