On Friday, February 13, Oak Grove hosted its beloved Day of Reading, where students, teachers, and staff arrived in their coziest pajamas to celebrate the love of reading together. Everyone brought their favorite stuffy and a book for a day filled with fun and imagination. Thank you to everyone for supporting this year’s Day of Reading!
In the weeks leading up to the special day, students reached out to extended family and friends to raise money for classroom teaching tools and an Ojai nonprofit. This year, students voted to support the Ojai Raptor Center. Beyond the positive impact Day of Reading has on classrooms, including a local non-profit extends the spirit of fundraising beyond campus—demonstrating civic engagement, environmental stewardship, and thoughtful giving in action. We’re looking forward to another successful Day of Reading and and the broader Ojai community.
A new and creative fundraising initiative in the high school this year, the morning began with cheerful singing candy-grams. They visited faculty and staff across campus, kicking off the day with heartfelt messages and delightful songs. The morning assembly featured the entire high school, singing “Stand By Me” a cappella before a Day of Reading check for over $4000 was presented to Jaclyn DeSantis, Ojai Raptor Center‘s Education Program Manager. Throughout the day, older students teamed up with their younger reading buddies to share some favorite stories and dive into exciting books together.
Overall, the Day of Reading was a heartwarming celebration of stories, bringing everyone together to enjoy the magic of books!

Last weekend, a group of our high school and 8th grade students backpacked up Horn Canyon to The Pines campground on Friday evening and spent time continuing to restore the campground—pulling weeds, cutting back brush, leveling tent areas, and helping with general camp maintenance.
On Saturday afternoon, a group hiked up to the ridge and towards Chief’s Peak, enjoying incredible views of the Ojai Valley, and all the way out to the Channel Islands.
We headed back to town on Sunday morning with tired bodies, but energized souls.
It was a rewarding experience, a great adventure, and a lot of fun. We’re grateful for the students’ hard work and adventurous spirit, and we look forward to more opportunities for trips like this in the future.
