Oak Grove School, a small pre-K through 12th-grade progressive college preparatory school in Ojai, California, is seeking an experienced and accomplished Sixth Grade Humanities teacher.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Teaching an integrated humanities curriculum to up to 18 6th-grade students.
- Serving as advisor and homeroom teacher to the 6th grade class.
- Supporting a small cohort of students who need extra support.
- Proctoring an after-school study hall two days a week, focusing on executive skills development.
- Attending regular staff meetings, professional development in-services, training, and special events.
- Supporting students with conflict resolution and social-emotional growth and development.
- Supervising interstitial spaces during breaks and lunch times.
- Participating in school events and our outdoor education program, including a multi-day camping trip in the fall and the spring.
- Other teaching responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Familiarity with the philosophy of the school (among other things, an inquiry-based approach to education in a non-competitive atmosphere) and an understanding of progressive education.
- Familiarity with growth mindset, project-based learning, anti-bias education, and authentic assessment.
- Applicants should possess a solid understanding of learning differences, particularly dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, and have extensive knowledge of ADHD and executive functioning challenges.
- Expertise in child development and social-emotional learning.

Job Description
Oak Grove School, a small pre-K through 12th grade progressive school in Ojai, California, is seeking a qualified Learning Specialist to work with students enrolled in our Learning Resources Program for grades 6th-12th. The Learning Resource Program serves students with learning differences by providing one-to-one and small-group support during the academic day. This position may be part-time or full-time, depending on the assigned responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
The High School and Middle School Learning Specialist supports students and the school in the following capacities:
- Provide academic and organizational support to small groups of students during the school day. Students meet in grade-level cohorts in groups of around 3-5 students.
- Monitor the progress of students enrolled in the Learning Resource Program and provide appropriate academic and executive skills support tailored to each student.
- Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student progress and areas that would benefit from additional support.
- Regularly visit core classes to observe students and provide support.
- Collaborate with the Learning Specialist team to ensure that students and families feel supported as they transition into middle and high school.
- Help teachers create materials and strategies that meet students’ learning needs, including accommodations and curriculum modifications.
- Assist with staff development workshops focusing on cognitive growth, executive functioning, and various learning differences.
- Provide support for testing, including standardized testing, for students who have testing accommodations.
- Interpret assessments, IEPs, and other learning profiles performed by outside service providers and communicate those findings to staff.
- Coordinate with school district and outside providers to support families with testing and evaluations for learning differences.
- Facilitate collaboration among parents, students, and teachers with a shared set of goals.
- Attend regular staff meetings, professional development in-services, training, and special events.
- Support students with conflict resolution and social-emotional growth and development.
- Supervise interstitial spaces during breaks and lunch times.
- Participate in school events and outdoor education program.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; a Master’s degree or certification as an educational therapist is preferred.
- A minimum of two years’ experience with high school or middle school students is also preferred.
Compensation
$46-$48 per hour for 20-40 hours per week.

Our preschool program serves children 3-5 years old, five days a week. We are a play-based program and draw on a variety of modalities including Reggio, Montessori, Piaget, Waldorf, Anti-bias Education, and RIE. Special attention is given to creating indoor and outdoor environments that act as the third teacher, rich with open-ended provocations and natural materials. The curriculum is emergent, and teachers and children create experiences together that inspire discovery and exploration while also building independence and essential skills. Through observing children closely, teachers determine their needs, temperament, and readiness for the next steps.
There is a special emphasis on social-emotional development in our preschool program, based on the values of community and empathy. Description
Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment while engaging with the larger community? Oak Grove School is looking for a Kitchen Porter to support our Head and Sous Chefs in our vegetarian kitchen. The ideal candidate has some familiarity with a commercial kitchen’s operations. The right candidate will actively participate in the life of the school, as well as bring enthusiasm and energy to the kitchen team and environment. The Kitchen Porter, along with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, supports a variety of school events throughout the school year (during the school day), in addition to several campus events outside of the traditional school day (evenings and the occasional weekend).
Requirements
- 6-months experience in a commercial kitchen.
- Willingness to take on daily dish operations, with some prep work in the kitchen, as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and put away heavy ingredients and kitchen equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain a good attitude under pressure.
- Ability to pivot and contribute ideas towards the goals of the kitchen.
- Punctual arrival to work daily.
- Strong cleaning skills and willingness to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and various types of equipment; in general, this includes daily mopping, window cleaning, stainless polishing, cleaning refrigerators, and scrubbing stove and oven.
- Ability to recognize and take initiative when opportunities for efficiency and kitchen operation improvement arise.
In addition to the requirements listed above, the ideal candidate has:
- A pleasant attitude that should be maintained in the kitchen and with students and staff members who we serve on a daily basis
- Strong organization skills and the ability to keep weekly/daily cleaning routine
- An understanding of general health and safety guidelines that apply to the kitchen environment
- Knowledge of vegetarian dietary needs
- Familiarity working with fresh produce
- Ability to take direction for basic kitchen assignments
- Ability to maintain proper storage and rotation of food products.

Do you have in-depth familiarity with the commercial kitchen’s operations? Are you looking for a few days of work here and there throughout the school year? We are looking to hire qualified kitchen substitutes. Our small kitchen team is made up of a head chef, a sous chef, and a dishwasher. On occasion, we need a sous chef sub.
