How Did We Get Here So Fast?

The Class of 2026 showed us that important moments don’t just happen suddenly. Their journey, both as a group and as individuals, was full of personal growth, learning, and connection. Since the beginning of their senior year, they positively influenced both students and staff. High School Director Mary Kelley shared her thoughts before inviting the class to the stage: “…this remarkable group of individuals has profoundly shaped our high school’s culture this year. They have ignited a sense of school spirit in both their peers and the adults around them.“

Though it may not have been sudden, time did seem to stand still under that great oak tree that rises from the Pavilion deck, as this year’s graduating class walked out to the cheers of awaiting loved ones.

The vibrant sense of community these leaders cultivated was palpable every day, and this is the powerful legacy they leave behind for future students to embrace and build upon.

Please Don’t Go Away

Seniors opened the commencement ceremony with a sweet acoustic rendition of Jack Johnson’s “Upside Down,” which concludes with the line, “Please Don’t Go Away.” Indeed, it’s tempting to want to keep this class around!

Head of School Jodi Grass then addressed each student individually and remarked to the group, “I hope you remain curious about people who are unlike yourself. I hope you allow uncertainty to deepen rather than frighten you. I hope you remember that knowledge is not the same thing as intelligence or wisdom and that success without meaning is hollow. That attention is the most pure form of love and that a thoughtful human being is a gift to the world.”

Each graduate’s speech expressed gratitude and shared stories of transformation, along with heartfelt reflections about their time at Oak Grove. They paid loving tributes to their friends, mentors, and families. Beyond personal friendships, it was evident that their recent visit to the Krishnamurti Schools in India and, for some, their travels to the World Expo in Japan last summer, had deepened their bonds.

High School Graduation 2026

Ready to Graduate

The graduates were prepared for the next step: receiving their diplomas and embarking on an exciting new chapter in their lives. Senior Advisor Sydney Robertson, who has skillfully and lovingly shepherded many senior classes to this moment, encouraged everyone to take a moment to appreciate the love and support radiating from the audience. Then, with diplomas in hand, the graduates tossed their caps into the morning sky, celebrating the arrival of the Oak Grove Class of 2026.

What’s Next for the Class of 2026?

Notably, the Class of 2026 achieved an average of seven college/university acceptances, collectively received over 56 acceptances, and the majority of the students were offered admission into one of their top three schools. After enjoying their well-deserved summer break, our graduates will be studying a range of subjects, from working with children and animals, psychology, sports, biology, and engineering at Franklin Olin College of Engineering, Marietta College, Montana State University, Reed College, University of California Irvine, University of California Riverside, University of Missouri.
