Seeds of Belonging
Seeds of Belonging Ojai is an anti-bias/anti-racism initiative for early childhood educators and parents that aims to cultivate futures of understanding, accountability, accommodation, and respect among difference in the local community and in the world at large. The group leans on expert advisors with extensive history in early childhood education, secure attachment, mental health and anti-racism and social justice work.
In March, as a partner to Seeds of Belonging Ojai, Oak Grove hosted an event featuring guest speaker Monique Marshall. Monique has worked for over 30 years with faculty, students, parents, and community members to develop and sustain equitable spaces of learning and belonging. Teachers from Oak Grove, Monica Ros, and the Ojai Unified School District engaged in facilitated discussions, reflective feedback and listening with an aim to help foster inclusive early childhood spaces and respectful future generations.
